Strategic Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Qingdao NMEI Group and Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (China) Co., Ltd.


On July 31, 2019, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between Qingdao NMEI Group and Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (China) Co., Ltd. was held in Shanghai. Wang Xian’an, deputy party secretary of Qingdao NMEI Group and Chris Hughes, general manager of Shipping & Marine Engineering in Greater China, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (China) Co., Ltd. formally signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two companies. The two sides will have in-depth cooperation in the supply chain, jointly promote the development of ship manufacturing and marine engineering equipment using their respective advantages, and accelerate the research on deep sea science and technology.


Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, headquartered in UK, is the oldest classification society in the world. With a great reputation in shipbuilding, marine engineering and energy, Lloyd’s Register is an international institution authoritative in consulting, classification and certification. After the agreement signing, Lloyd's Register will support the NMEI Group’s Subsea Equipment Testing Lab and EMC Lab in obtaining accreditation from Lloyd's Register. NMEI Group will also introduce Lloyd's Register to NMEI’s partners as their first choice for classification.

Centering on the development of the whole industrial chain of inspection and testing, NMEI Group has been gathering high-end resources, promoting high-end cooperation and preparing high-end projects. In 2018, NMEI Group signed the MOU on International Mutual Recognition of Testing Certification with Rhine TüV, the first of its type in China, and reached a cooperation consensus with European Committee for Electrotechnical Normalization (CENELEC) to jointly build Asian Center for Electrical Standardization Research and Cooperation. On June 5 2019, the group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Siemens to cooperate in smart, automatic and digital technologies. This time, the contract signed with Lloyd's Register which will enhance the voice of NMEI Group on the international arena in the field of inspection and testing and help it strengthen its core competitiveness for high-quality development.
